Two resolutions adding gender expression and identity as protected categories in the church’s canons passed the House of Deputies yesterday in concurrence with the House of Bishops and are now acts of convention.
One of them was Massachusetts deputy Byron Rushing’s resolution, D019, guaranteeing equal place in the church’s life, governance and worship. The other, D002, ensures transgender people aren’t excluded from the ordination process.
